§ 1-9. Penalties.

  • (a)

    Misdemeanor. Any person violating any of the provisions of City Code of New Hope shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or by imprisonment not to exceed 90 days, or both; provided however, that if a different punishment is prescribed for violation of a specific portion of this Code; such provision shall govern the punishment for such violation.

    (b)

    Petty misdemeanor. Specific mention of a violation of any of the provisions of this Code as being a petty misdemeanor shall mean that, upon conviction, the sentence of a fine of not more than $300.00 may be imposed. In absence of the designation of petty misdemeanor in connection with any violation, such violation shall be a misdemeanor, as set forth above.

    (c)

    Separate violations. Each separate violation of the Code is a separate offense; and a person's continued violation of the same code provision, with knowledge thereof, is a separate offense for each day of such continued violation, unless otherwise specifically stated.
